Richmondshire neighbourhood officers PCSO Nicole Randall and PC Lisa Recchia made a special visit to an exceptionally brave and courageous young girl this week.
Lyla Rose, from Catterick Garrison was diagnosed with a brain stem tumour in 2016 and underwent a life-saving operation.
Since then, Lyla Rose has undergone a further 18 surgeries to give her the best possible life, with her 19th surgery scheduled on December 22, meaning she will be spending Christmas in hospital.
The officers say Lyla has remained positive throughout her journey and has shown courage and bravery.
It was Lyla’s 11th birthday on Tuesday and the PCSOs wanted to make it extra special with a surprise visit.
Lyla enjoyed looking around the police car and turning the lights and sirens on.
The officers brought Lyla a birthday card and a present from everyone at North Yorkshire Police.
