Pop-Up Shed exhibition opens featuring work by ex-forces personell

A unique exhibition charting a special programme for ex-forces members opened in Richmond this week.

The Pop-Up Shed’s Identity exhibition tracks the Healthy Horizons veterans project fronted by Community First Yorkshire Ex-Forces Support North Yorkshire.

The exhibition marks the end of the project in Richmondshire – but many of the other projects in North Yorkshire will continue for a further 12 months.

The collection of artwork on display has been created by veterans over the past 18 months in collaboration with artists and craftspeople from across the region.

It includes leather craft, painting, green wood carving, printmaking, wood carving, textiles and willow weaving.  The exhibition runs until April 14.

The launch of the exhibition also saw the handover of a set of bird boxes to Landmarc Support Services – they were made by the veterans to be donated to Leyburn Primary School.

The school is collaborating with Landmarc Support Services to create a nature reserve area on the school site which can be enjoyed all year round.
