A popular Wensleydale pub has been put up for sale by its owners.
The Bolton Arms in Redmire has gone on the market with a guide price of £600,000.
As well as a bar and restaurant seating around 50 people, the premises include five en-suite letting rooms and owner accommodation.
This story continues after the adverts:
The pub has been owned by Bill and Janet Riding for the last six-and-a-half years.
The couple said they had worked hard and focused their energy into creating a business they were extremely proud of.
Janet said: “The reason we have decided to sell is that we feel there is an opportunity for someone new with enthusiasm and drive to come along and take the business to the next level.
“We recently wrote a five-year business development plan, which if we were to stay, we would implement. However, we felt that we no longer had the energy to do it full justice.”
She added: “Running a pub in a pretty dales village such as Redmire is very much a lifestyle opportunity and being at the hub of the village we have come to know so many people both locals and visitors alike.
“We really feel that the purchase of the Bolton Arms would appeal to someone wanting a change of direction in their life and someone who wanted a lifestyle business.”
The sale details show that the pub trades profitably throughout the year, with substantial summer and holiday trade.
The turnover for the year ending 31 March 2017 shows sales net of VAT of £520,004.
The brochures says that the business is well established, with turnover being stabilised for a number of years, adding: “The property provides the ideal investment for an owner operator seeking an established business with scope for development and considerable increase in profit.
Whilst providing a year round base of trade, the current owners recognise that there is scope to increase the
occupancy outside of the busy summer and holiday periods.
“This may be in the form of increased advertising or the provision of dinner, bed and breakfast packages during the winter months.”
Subject to planning permission, the dining room and the accommodation could be extended, the brochure adds.
Bill and Janet also have the lease for the Three Horseshoes in nearby Wensley, which they will continue to run.
