Postwoman to take on skydive for charity helping her brother

A Dales postwoman is preparing for a skydive to raise money for the charity which is helping her brother.

Tracy Bowe, 49, will make the jump on June 1 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for the help they have given her brother Paul, who was diagnosed with incurable brain tumours in 2021.

Tracy said she also wanted to make the jump as she is turning 50 this year.

“If I can combine celebrating my big birthday with raising funds for Macmillan that will be truly amazing.

“My brother Paul was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in November 2021 at the age of 43, given just 6 to 12 months to live.

“I am so happy to say two years after being diagnosed Paul is still walking, talking and aggravating — he’s living with cancer not dying from it.

“Macmillan have been vital to Paul, supporting him every step throughout his rollercoaster journey. I can’t control what Paul is going through but I can support the charity that supports him.”

Tracy will make the skydive at Bridlington Airport in cooperation with York Racecourse.

The postie will then attend their Macmillan Race Day where she will receive their fundraising and skydiving certificates.

Tracy is holding a charity quiz to boost the appeal at Harmby Village Hall on May 24 at 7pm. See the below poster for more details.

A raffle will be drawn on the night with numerous local businesses having donated raffle prizes.

Tickets for the raffle can be obtained from Tracy, or via Adam at Campbells of Leyburn, Luke at JT Atkinsons in Leyburn, Helen at Winstanleys or Ken the updale Evri delivery driver. See the poster below for a list of raffle prizes.
