Preparations underway for 36th Hunton Steam Gathering

The 36th Hunton Steam Gathering will take place on September 9 and 10 with organisers aiming to stage the best event yet.

More than 1,000 exhibits displaying over 120 years of agricultural and motoring heritage will be on show on the 70-acre Wensleydale site.

Exhibitor highlights include 30 steam engines and 60 miniature steam engines along with an original set of steam gallopers.

In addition, there will be over 200 classic cars, 200 tractors, commercial vehicles, motorbikes and stationary engines on display throughout the weekend.

Once again, a large craft and food market showcasing local produce will be at the event alongside an avenue of varied trade stalls and autojumble.

There will also be vintage fairground rides, falconry displays, working demonstrations, arena attractions and much more.

The main arena will see displays from Walworth Castle Birds of Prey, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (Sunday), a classic auto-test and working demonstrations showcasing the varied exhibits on show over the weekend. ECON Engineering will be on display with their heritage fleet and a pair of Fowler steam ploughing engines will ve working throughout the weekend (alongside a ploughing competition on the Sunday).

Organised by an entirely voluntary committee, the team has been able to donate thousands of pounds to local charities over the years.

For the first time, tickets can now be bought online in advance of the event, as well as on the gate.
