Prepare for a scare in a week of Halloween fun

By Betsy Everett

Be prepared to be scared as a walk-through “ghost train” pulls into a Dales village for a feast of seasonal tricks, treats and terror.

Staged in a former grain store by the international events company Incredible Artists, the Halloween Spooktacular in Askrigg will recreate the ghost train experience at Uredale Mill, site of the former Carrs Billington base.

Children and parents will be able to walk through the scary but safe ghostly space in a family “bubble” and with a maximum of six in the group, and a free treat for the children at the end.

Unaccompanied adults are also welcome to join the fun.

Organisers have ensured the environment is Covid-secure, the visits will be carefully timed and socially distanced, and contactless temperatures will be taken at the door.

Masks are mandatory with no exceptions because of the dark environment, there will be hand sanitiser at the entrance and an event QR code for track and trace.

Tickets for the event, which runs from Tuesday, October 27, to Sunday, November 1, from noon to 6pm each day, are available online at £4 per person, with under-threes going free.

The event is family friendly and suitable for all ages but organisers suggest under-fives should only enter at parents’ discretion.

Fifteen minute time slots are available to book online and if the event has to be cancelled to comply with Covid regulations money will be fully refunded.

Halloween Spooktacular is at Uredale Mill, Station Road, Askrigg, DL8 3HZ. Tickets, time slots and full details at
