A touring exhibition featuring the winners of the prestigious British Life Photography Awards will be held at the Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn this summer.
The exhibition is free to enter and will showcase the award winners, commended images and other selected photographs by professionals from across the UK.
Documenting daily life has been a tradition for over a century, so just like the great documentary photographers of the past and present, the awards encourage photographers to elevate the commonplace and familiar into something compelling or fascinating through the craft, creativity and discipline of photography.
With ten separate categories including street life, rural life, portraiture and documentary feature, the awards are a unique visual celebration of British life, in all its richness and diversity, creating an enduring visual record of the spirit and essence of our nation.
In addition to the prestige and exposure there is a £15,000 prize fund from lead sponsor Sony.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Professional Photographer and BLPA exhibitor Steve Morgan on Saturday, July 28 at 10.30am.
The event will run to September 9.
Based in Pateley Bridge, Steve is a previous section winner of the awards and he will talk about his exhibited photograph and the works by other photographers on display.
The launch event and exhibition is free to enter.
