Princess Anne to visit Wensleydale ahead of stables open day

Princess Anne at the Trooping of the Colour.

Princess Anne is scheduled to visit Wensleydale later this month.

The Princess Royal will make the visit on Wednesday, April 17 in her role as the president of Racing Welfare.

As well as attending trainer Mark Johnston’s stables in Middleham, the Royal will attend a Racing Welfare dinner at the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton, and Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn.

The visit will come ahead of the annual Middleham Stables Open Day on Good Friday, which is organised by the racing charity.

Proceeds from the event will go towards funding local Racing Welfare projects, including the Hill House development in the town, which is being re-developed in association with the Jessica Bethell Charitable Foundation.

The project will support the local racing community by providing young people’s accommodation as well as community rooms, a gym and treatment facilities.  A proportion of funds raised on the day will also be donated to local good causes including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
