Prize for 95th runner announced for this weekend’s Richmond Castle 10k

Participants in a previous Richmond Castle 10k.

An extra prize is being awarded at this year’s Richmond Castle 10k as part of celebrations to mark the 950th anniversary of the building of the castle.

Along with prizes for the first three men and women, age groups, teams and spot prizes, the 95th person crossing the finish line — and therefore the person running the 950th km of the race — will be awarded a collection of Richmond 950 memorabilia and commemorative certificate.

The organisers of Richmond’s 950th celebrations said they wanted to acknowledge another regular feature of Richmond’s life, along with other activities through this year that include a community archaeology project; historical re-enactments; historical market; open-air film night; a talk about careers in history at Richmond School by Horrible Histories’ chief researcher, Henri Ward , talks and concerts as well as a celebration of children’s writing.
