Pub landlady to embark on 28-mile sponsored bike ride after granddaughter born prematurely

Baby Sofia was born after just 28 weeks.

A pub landlady will embark on a 28-mile bike ride today to raise money for the hospital unit which helped her premature granddaughter.

Tracy Hook, landlady of the Bishop Blaize, in Richmond, is raising money for the special care baby unit at York Hospital.

Tracy chose to ride 28 miles as her granddaughter Sofia was born after just 28 weeks.

Tracy said: “My oldest daughter has recently had a baby that has needed an extensive stay in the special care baby unit in York Hospital.

“They have worked so hard with baby Sofia and have finally managed to get her strong enough to come home after seven long weeks.

“To help support and show our appreciation for everything they have done I will be doing a sponsored bike ride.

“I will be doing 28 miles as that is how many weeks my granddaughter was born at a mile for every week.”
