A junior football team has a new kit thanks to members of a Wensleydale pub’s social committee.
Regulars at the Three Horseshoes in Wensley have raised more than £4,500 for local good causes over the last three years.
Money has helped pay for new defibrillators for the pub and village hall.
The committee has also made a contribution to the village fireworks display and is paying for a kit for the new girls rugby team at Wensleydale Rugby Club.
The latest donation has paid for a kit for Leyburn Junior Football Club’s U13s Sunday team.
Committee joint chairman Paul Wood said the aim of the committee was to raise money by having a good time.
Fundraising initiatives have included a bike ride, Easter raffle and a ‘bring a tin to the in” events.
The football team, together with coaches and parents, visited the pub last month to say thank you and enjoy pizza and drinks.
Coach Shane Close said: “We are really grateful to members of the social committee for the funding.
“The lads are looking forward to their first season as a team in the Harrogate Junior League this year and it’s great to start the season looking so smart.”
