A python escaped injury after a fire broke out in its tank at a property in Colburn.
Firefighters from Northallerton were called to Grange Road at about 11pm following reports of smoke coming from a snake tank.
The fire was already out when crews arrived.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said there was minor damage to wood chippings inside the tank.
The snake, a python called Toby, was unharmed in the incident.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a heat lamp.

What a “WASTE” of time for the fire brigade. I’m sure the owner of the snake could of sorted out the wood chippings themselves .
