Quieter roads allow council staff to tidy key routes

Richmondshire District Council street scene teams have been making the most of the quiet roads by tidying key road links.

Members of the waste and street scene team have been out on the A66 picking up litter.

The road is normally too busy and dangerous to deep clean.

In Hawes, the normally busy car park has had a thorough weeding and cleaning.

“This is work we often struggle to do due to our usual work commitments  – or the areas are too busy for us to undertake it safely,” said corporate director, Colin Dales.

“While this period of lockdown is not what any of us want we are taking advantage of the quieter roads to get this work done.”
