RADS to bring Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d to Richmond stage

The curtain is set to rise on an evening of intrigue, glamour and suspense as Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society prepares to stage The Mirror Crack’d at the Georgian Theatre Royal.

Adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff from the novel by Agatha Christie, the classic mystery returns audiences to the quiet village of St Mary Mead — and the razor-sharp mind of Miss Marple.

The story centres on a glittering cocktail party that ends in sudden tragedy, leaving the village reeling and suspicion falling on a host of colourful characters. As secrets begin to surface and tensions simmer, Miss Marple’s keen understanding of human nature proves crucial in unravelling a web of jealousy, ambition and deception.

Co-director Gregan Davis said the company was delighted to be bringing the production to Richmond audiences.

“In what is the 50th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s passing, her work remains as captivating today as ever,” he said. “The twists, the red herrings and the unforgettable characters make this a fantastic show to rehearse — and it will be even more thrilling to share it with our audiences.”

The production promises classic Christie suspense, complete with period charm and plenty of suspects to keep theatre-goers guessing. From a glamorous visiting film star to inquisitive villagers, everyone appears to have something to hide — but only one person is guilty.

Co-director Lee Bowles said the company was especially looking forward to the audience reaction on the night.

“There’s nothing quite like hearing the collective gasp when the ‘whodunnit’ is finally revealed,” he said.

“We can’t wait to see who manages to solve it before Miss Marple does.”

The Mirror Crack’d runs from Wednesday, March 18 to Saturday, March 21.

Tickets are available from the theatre box office.
