A rare concert ticket signed by all four members of The Beatles is set to go under the hammer at Tennants Auctioneers later this month with an estimated value of £3,000 to £5,000.
The ticket, which will be offered in the Toys and Collectables, Sporting and Fishing Sale on Wednesday, July 22, is from a The Beatles concert held at the Grosvenor on Prince of Wales Road in Norwich on May 17, 1963, at the height of Beatlemania. It bears the signatures of Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison, which were obtained by the vendor after attending the performance.
Kegan Harrison, Toys and Collectables specialist at Tennants Auctioneers, said: “Anything relating to The Beatles remains incredibly popular, and it is fantastic to have such strong provenance with this lot, with the vendor having actually been present when they were signed.”
The sale also includes a piece of punk rock history in the form of a signed advertisement by Sex Pistols, estimated at £2,000 to £3,000. The page, taken from a 1977 edition of the NME, advertises the band’s landmark album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols and features the signatures of Steve Jones, Paul Cook, John Lydon and Sid Vicious.
The signed Sex Pistols item is being sold with a certificate of authenticity from Frasers Autographs. Estimates quoted are hammer prices and exclude the buyer’s premium and VAT.
