Ravensworth Nurseries has revealed its revamped retail area.

Staff have spent three months refitting greenhouses to house the outdoor plants.

The changes mean all stock is now on the one side of the road, with the other former retail area used just for growing.

The changes come as the nursery prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The company was launched to grow and sell tomatoes by Bill Hannah and brother-in-law Doug Bradbrook.

Manager Fiona Dean, daughter of Mr Hannah, said it was fitting that the changes were being made now in the anniversary years.

“It has been something we have wanted to do for 20 years but have now got on and done it.

“The new area is a cold retail for all out outdoor plants. It’s next to the bedding plants so everything should be easier for our customers to find.

“It also makes it easier for us to staff so we are on-hand to offer help and advice.”

The nurseries are open this weekend.
