Volunteers will once again be lending their skills to help repair broken household items when the Richmondshire Repair Café returns this weekend.
The popular community event will take place at Richmond Town Hall on Sunday, March 8, from 9.45am to 12.30pm.
Run by Richmondshire Climate Action Partnership, the Repair Café brings together enthusiastic and skilled local volunteers who offer their time to help fix damaged or faulty items that might otherwise end up in landfill.
Residents are invited to bring along a wide range of household items for repair, including kitchen gadgets, ceramics, small electrical appliances, radios and electronics, picture frames, jewellery, fabric items and soft toys.
The initiative aims to promote sustainability by encouraging people to repair and reuse items rather than throw them away. It also offers an opportunity for people to learn more about how everyday objects work and how they can be maintained.
Alongside the repair sessions, visitors will also be able to enjoy refreshments at a café serving hot and cold drinks and a selection of home-baked cakes.
There is no charge for repairs or refreshments, although donations on the day are welcome to help cover the costs of running future events.
Organisers say the café has proved popular with residents keen to reduce waste and extend the life of their belongings, while also bringing the community together.
