A booming business set up by a teenager entrepreneur in his bedroom during the pandemic has rebranded to better reflect its Yorkshire heritage.
Harvey Moss, now 16, from Leyburn, set up his fragrance business in 2021 aged just 14, and has seen it go from strength to strength.
Stocked in high-profile shops and hotels throughout the region, Harvey initially sold his range of diffusers under the name of Melt ‘n’ Soak as he envisaged making soaps to complement his room scents.
However, such has been the popularity of his range of diffusers he has decided to focus on those and has rebranded to Dales Diffusers.
He said: “I wanted to name the business to reflect not just what I sell, but where I’m from. I’m incredibly proud to be a Yorkshireman and of being from the heart of the Dales. So Dales Diffusers was born!”
As well as continuing to develop his range of room fragrance diffusers, Harvey has also worked with designers to create new packaging and a new website to reflect the business’ new name.
Harvey hasn’t let sitting – and passing – 11 GCSEs slow down his business ambitions and continues to successfully juggle running his business with studying for three A-Levels.
He’s looking forward to a bumper Christmas and if last year’s sales are anything to go by, he’s in for a busy time! As well as his studies, his business and his part-time Front of House role at the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton, he’ll be attending several Christmas fares to sell his in-demand products.
He said: “Last year, on the first day of the Tennants Christmas Fair, I completely sold out of all I’d taken in just a couple of hours and had to dash home to collect all the rest of my stock.
“That soon sold out too! I love that people seem to like the diffusers so much, it’s a real honour to think so many people have them in their homes.”
Harvey’s handmade diffusers come in a range of different fragrances including the most popular rhubarb and rose and two new scents, lemongrass and ginger and Thai lime and mango. He also offers festive scents including spiced orange and cinnamon, winter morning and Christmas spice.
They are available in a range of stockists including The Wensleydale Heifer, The Hide Away in Leyburn, Saks in Ripon and guests staying in TV’s ‘Four in a Bed’ winning Haven House Bed and Breakfast will also find owners Tracey and Iain stocking them there.
As well as being available for sale in stockists and online (www.dalesdiffiusers.com) Harvey will also be hitting the road this festive season to sell the reed diffusers and will be attending Christmas Fairs on:
- Saturday 25th November – Winter Wonderland Tennants Garden Rooms
- Saturday December 3rd – Tupgill Park
- Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December – Harmby Village Hall
