Recycling litter bins installed in three Richmondshire towns

Waste and street scene team member, Kim Hesketh, tries out the new bin.

A new scheme to boost recycling across three of Richmondshire’s towns is underway.

The district council has installed a recycling litter bin in Richmond and Reeth market places.

Another one will be placed in Middleham.

They allow residents to dispose of their litter but also recycle paper and card, cans and plastics.

The trial scheme will run for three months.

Its success will then be monitored and the council will decide if it should be continued and extended to other parts of the district.
