Reeth Medical Centre has received a second successive ‘outstanding’ rating after a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

The practice serves the people of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale and has been run by husband and wife team Mike and Marie Brookes for the last ten years.

The inspectors noted that “feedback from patients demonstrated that staff were highly motivated and were inspired to offer care that was kind, caring and supportive and met the needs of the population”.

The Chief Inspector of General Practice, Professor Steve Field said: “The practice was passionate about ensuring they always provided their patients with the best care possible.

“They demonstrated a determined attitude to overcome barriers faced by the practice and the population they served.”

Managing partner Marie Brookes said: “In a lot of ways the second inspection was harder than the first.

“We had set ourselves a high standard the first time round, and there was a lot of self-imposed pressure within our team to not let ourselves and our patients down.

“We were deeply humbled by some of the comments from patients sent to the inspection team and also left on our social media platforms.

“The report is a credit to the dedication of our staff, however, there are still things we can improve and new ideas we can develop to ensure the health of the two dales prospers in the future.”
