Westfields Tennis Club is hoping to serve up a new wave of members after completing a major refurbishment of its courts.
The Richmond club, which was founded in 1928, has invested significantly in renovating and resurfacing its two courts with a new acrylic carpet surface, alongside carrying out ground improvement works. The upgraded facilities are already proving popular with existing members.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) registered club has around 85 members, including adults, children and families of all abilities, and offers coaching from two fully qualified LTA professional coaches.
As well as regular social tennis sessions throughout the year, the club competes in local leagues and organises annual competitions and social events.
Now the club is inviting prospective members to see what it has to offer during two open days next month.
The first will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 9.30am to 12 noon, followed by a second session on Sunday, August 2, from 2pm to 4pm.
Visitors will be able to tour the facilities, meet current members, enjoy refreshments and even have a go on the newly resurfaced courts. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Annual adult membership currently costs £120, with no additional court booking charges, while membership is free for children under 12.
The club also plans to introduce a pay-and-play system on one of its courts, making it easier for occasional players and visitors to enjoy the facilities.
Anyone who joins during one of the open days will be offered a discounted adult membership.
