Rescue operation after father and son trapped under quad bike

The emergency services were called out yesterday to rescue a father and son trapped under an overturned quad bike.

The incident happened on moorland near the Tan Hill pub in Arkengarthdale on Saturday afternoon.

Two people were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by the Great North Air Ambulance, which sent a doctor and paramedic after receiving the call just before 4pm.

The pair arrived in hospital in a stable condition.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team were also called.

A spokesman for the air ambulance praised the volunteers saying they made the work of the medics much easier.

Firefighters and police also attended the incident.

The condition of the father and son is not yet known.
