Rescue volunteers called out after three horse riders suffer serious injuries

The emergency services were called out today after three horse riders suffered serious injuries.

The incident happened on the Swinton estate near Masham.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team was called out by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to help.

A spokesperson for the team said there was no air ambulance available said so it was decided to ask for the assistance of the coastguard aircraft.

However, ambulance staff managed to evacuate all three casualties to road ambulances and the team was stood down.
