Rescue volunteers come to aid of injured walker in Wensleydale

Volunteers from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) and paramedics came to the aid of an injured walker today.

The man had dislocated his shoulder after slipping and falling while out walking near Carperby in Wensleydale this afternoon.

He was put on a stretcher and carried to a waiting Yorkshire Ambulance Service vehicle for transport to hospital.

SMRT controller Steve Clough said: “In order to evacuate him we needed to put him on a stretcher and pull them up a steep rocky bank.”
