Rescue volunteers come to aid of sheep stuck on hill

Members of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) came to the aid of a sheep stuck on a hill today.

The team was carrying out steep ground rescue training with colleagues from Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team in upper Swaledale when they were asked for help by a farmer.

A SMRT spokesperson said: “We were just as we were about to leave Keld when a local farmer asked for assistance with a crag-fast sheep.

“A number of the team set up a rope system and safety recovered the sheep to the top.”
