An appeal for North Yorkshire residents who use a commercial or commercial-like vehicle to take household waste to household waste recycling centres has seen more than 2,500 people register their vehicles and obtain a new pass since August.
It is free for residents to register these types of vehicles, but without a pass they will be unable to dispose of waste without being charged.
North Yorkshire County Council is reminding others who use a van, pick-up truck or similar vehicle to take household waste to an HWRC that they need to obtain a pass if they are not registered or if their existing pass is more than two years old, has expired or has no expiry date.
Applying for a pass is quick and easy and can be done online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/hwrc-registration.
New passes will arrive within ten working days of the registration being accepted.
Ian Fielding, assistant director for transport, waste and countryside services, said: “It’s easy for customers to register for a pass using the new system, with most applications taking fewer than five minutes to complete. We’re delighted that so many people have renewed their passes already and would urge anyone who hasn’t done so yet to do it online.”
These passes are for people using commercial or commercial-like vehicles to deliver their own household waste. Each of our HWRCs also accept commercial waste at an appropriate charge from businesses.
