Residents urged not to leave extra waste for refuse crews

Householders are being asked not to leave excess waste out for collection as crews will only empty bins.

Waste collections across Richmondshire continue to run as normal, but officials say the crews do not have the capacity to pick up any excess waste, whether in sacks or left loose.

This also applies to cardboard – only that folded and placed in the recycling bags will be collected.

Residents are asked to keep the remainder for a future collection or for when the pandemic is over and the recycling centres are once more open for business.

Residents are asked to observe the social distancing rules when collections are taking place and not come into close contact with the waste teams.

And the council is also urging residents to wash bin, box and bag handles both before and after collections to protect themselves and the council collection teams.
