Residents urged to keep windows closed as firefighters tackle Melsonby blaze

Firefighters are tackling a large blaze involving a single-storey building in Melsonby.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Dere Street, where the fire involves a building measuring around 50 metres by 10 metres.

Multiple fire crews are at the scene and are using three hose reel jets and a main jet to bring the blaze under control.

Residents and anyone in the surrounding area have been warned that they may notice large amounts of smoke. As a precaution, people are being advised to keep all doors and windows closed while the incident is dealt with.
