A Wensleydale restaurant is inviting people to take a virtual “peek behind the pass” and see its dishes as they get ready to be served to their guests.

The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton, near Leyburn, is giving visitors to their Instagram page a virtual nightly look at what’s being ordered and served.

Every night at 7.30pm the team gives a look behind the scenes in the professional kitchen with a tempting photograph of what’s coming off the pass and making its way to a table.

And as well as indulging the region’s foodies’ fantasies, it will also benefit charity.

Owners David and Lewis Moss have pledged to donate £1 of food to a local foodbank for every new follower they gain on Instagram up to 500 new followers.

Owner and head vhef David Moss said: “We’re calling it Posts from the Pass and it’s a rare chance for people to see, in real time, what’s coming off the pass and going out to our guests.

“It’s already been incredibly popular on Instagram and we’ve added hundreds of new followers since launching Posts from The Pass a few days’ ago.

“We really embrace social media and already have tens of thousands of followers on Facebook.

“We’re excited by food here and we know hundreds of thousands around the UK and further afield are too. This is a chance for us to show Yorkshire produce in all its glory and we’re looking forward to sharing the pick of our pass every night.”
