Award winning artist Lucy Pittaway will open her second full time art gallery on Saturday in Finkle Street, Richmond.

The launch comes after the Richmond resident was named as the Fine Art Trade Guild’s Best Up and Coming Artist of the Year for 2016, with Lucy Pittaway Limited being named Best New Business at the recent Fine Art Trade Guild Awards 2017.

The new art gallery opens following the success of the Lucy Pittaway Art Gallery in Brompton-on-Swale, which will continue to operate as usual.

With the high volume of tourists visiting the town, and with her local affinity to the town, Lucy said she felt the time was right to open a second dedicated premises in the heart of Richmond itself.

Lucy said: “It is a really exciting opportunity to open a new gallery in Richmond, something I have always dreamed of doing.

“My artwork is inspired by the people and surrounding areas of Richmond, so to be able to exhibit the work in the town is something I am very proud to be able to do.”

Lucy is well known for her Tour de Yorkshire 2016 and 2017 collections in her role as the official artist for the Tour, but she is as well known for her Yorkshire inspired Sheep, Houses and Dreaming of Yorkshire collections inspired by some of the North-East and Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks.
