With three months to go until the start of the 2019 UCI Road World Championships, Richmond artist Lucy Pittaway has released five pieces of artwork ahead of the race.
The 2019 UCI Road World Championships will take place in September and will see the biggest names in cycling competing across Yorkshire
To celebrate the festival of racing, Lucy has created five pieces.
Each piece aims to capture a unique element of the race such as the time trials, road races, the finish line or the stunning Yorkshire countryside that the riders pass through during the races.
In May, Lucy Pittaway was named the UK’s Most Popular Published Artist for the second year running by The Fine Art Trade Guild, and is a three time Official Artist of the Tour de Yorkshire.
Lucy said: “I am incredibly proud to be able to work with the 2019 UCI Road World Championships to create artwork celebrating cycling in Yorkshire.
“Our wonderful county creates such a colourful, characterful and picturesque backdrop for such an amazing event, it’s so exciting to bring it to life through art.
“Hopefully I have created something that visitors to the event from around the world can take a little piece of Yorkshire home with them”.
Yorkshire 2019 CEO Andy Hindley added: “We are delighted to be working with such a celebrated artist. Lucy has a fantastic connection to cycling in Yorkshire and it is fitting that she is marking these Championships in her work.”
