A Richmond bakery has been recognised for its outstanding support for customers living with dementia.
Thomas the Baker has received a Dementia Friendly Award from the Richmond-based Dementia Friendly Communities Group (DFG) in recognition of the care and understanding shown by its staff.
The award was presented by the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Clive World, on behalf of the group.
Cllr World said the bakery had been praised repeatedly by members of the DFG for the way staff support customers who need extra assistance.
He said: “It was my great privilege to present Thomas the Baker a Dementia Friendly Award for their outstanding service.
“Friends of DFG have been repeatedly told that Tracey and her team take a positive attitude to all customers and how time is taken with those who need that extra help, always with patience and a smile.”
The Dementia Friendly Communities Group works to encourage businesses and organisations to make their services more accessible and welcoming for people living with dementia.
The group is now appealing for more nominations to recognise other organisations that demonstrate kindness, patience and understanding in supporting people affected by the condition.
