The new chair of Richmond and Lower Swaledale Business Association hopes to have 100 members to the group by Christmas.

Marcia McLuckie said around 35 people turned up to the March meeting and she was delighted at the growing enthusiasm for the group.

She said: “I would like to see membership up to 100 by the end of the year, and we are already making progress.

“The more members we have, the greater our voice for Richmond businesses and the more we can do to help promote all aspects of the town, from establishing a business here to coming on a day trip.”

Membership costs £45.

A special general meeting will be held at The Smithy on the Aske Estate on April 5.

At the meeting a proposal will be considered to revert back to the group’s former name, Richmond Business & Tourism Association.
