A business organisation dedicated to supporting Richmond’s economy is inviting more local firms to join after securing a £150,000 grant to help boost the town’s visitor economy.
The Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA) has successfully secured funding from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority through its Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund.
The £150,000 investment will be used to deliver a project called Making Richmond Shine, which aims to strengthen Richmond’s appeal as a destination for visitors while supporting local businesses and the wider economy.
ORBTA works to promote Richmond as a thriving place to live, work and visit, bringing together businesses of all sizes to share ideas, represent common interests and organise initiatives that benefit the town.
The association says membership is open to everyone, from home-based entrepreneurs and independent traders to managers of national companies and multinational businesses operating in the area.
Annual membership costs £60 for the first year and £70 in subsequent years.
Members receive a range of benefits, including a premium listing on the Welcome to Richmond website, networking opportunities through monthly meetings and regular updates on funding, training opportunities, legislation and local events.
The association also provides members with the opportunity to raise concerns affecting the business community, contribute to planning consultations and take part in promotional campaigns such as Totally Locally.
ORBTA plays a key role in supporting some of Richmond’s best-known community events, including Richmond MayFest and the town’s Christmas Fair. It also celebrates local success through its biennial Richmond Business Awards.
Association representatives say they are keen to welcome new members and continue building a strong and resilient business community that benefits residents, visitors and the local economy alike.
