Richmond business Berber Leather, which imports and sells handmade leather bags and accessories from Morocco, has received further support from Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis.
Berber was named one of the entrepreneur’s small businesses of the week back in July.
Last month, the company was invited to an exclusive networking and conference event in Birmingham, where they were able to meet other winners of the Small Business Sunday Scheme; get support from sponsors such as DHL and Ryman Stationary; and meet Theo himself.

Berber Leather co-owner Beki Stevenson said: “We found out when we got there just 0.68 per cent of the 329,000 applicants to #SBS become winners said so we feel very honoured to be part of this select club.
The event also included an inspirational ‘fireside chat’ between Theo and John Roberts, founder and executive director of AO.com, the online appliance retailer, who highlighted how small businesses are the backbone of the UK economy.
“It’s great to know that this support isn’t just a one-off thing from when we first won in July last year,” said Beki.
“It’s fantastic that we get the support from Theo Paphitis not just now, but in the future through his social media groups set up just for the winners and for the winners event which we get to attend now every year.
“I would definitely recommend this to any small businesses looking for a boost it has 100 per cent been worth it.”
Small business champion, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.
“My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website and Shop #SBS will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Berber Leather every success.”
Anyone looking to be part of the #SBS family should tweet Theo @TheoPaphitis about their business on Sunday between 5 PM and 7.30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS.
Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8pm and then reap the benefits of the #SBS networking opportunities.
