Motor dealers and garage SG Petch have sponsored Catterick Garrison’s Gurkha Company football team.

The Richmond branch have provided the kit for the team which represents  the Brigade of Gurkhas and the Infantry Training Centre (ITC).

The sponsorship came about after Cpl Nagesh Sunuwar, a player for the team, approached the ITC HIVE information support officer, Lindsay Russell, to seek support from a local business that would be interested in sponsoring the team.

Lindsay recommended SG Petch which are the only Kia garage in the country to offer military discount.

Cpl Nagesh wrote to SG Petch to request support in the form of X20 football tops.

General manager Byron Dawson wrote back to say he would gladly sponsor the team.

As well as contributing by using Kia’s Gift of a Kit scheme he also agreed to supply kit for seven extra players.

The provision of the kit, worth over £2000, was facilitated by Dave McLean of SG Petch.

The Officer Commanding Gurkha Company, Maj Prembahadur Gurung (Prem), invited Mr Dawson to visit Gurkha Company ITC to personally thank him for producing the kit where SG Petch enjoyed a Gurkha curry.
