Richmond businesses come together to fight cancer with sponsored headshave

Richmond businesses will come together this weekend to help fight cancer and show solidarity with friends and colleagues fighting the disease.

Firms in the town’s Finkle Street are taking part in a sponsored headshave for Breast Cancer UK.

Ian Rowland-Hill, from Tasty Macs sandwich shop, said he was inspired to after learning his sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

He added: “Shortly after that we learned that Lynn from J&H Meynell Pet and Garden Supplies, also in Finkle Street, was also about to undergo treatment.

“They will both shortly be starting their treatment and so inevitably will be losing their hair as one of the side effects.

“To show solidarity with them both, and all the others who have suffered, Chris from Wilfreds Deli and I have decided to shave our heads.

“We also decided to involve some friends and other businesses on Finkle Street and further afield to raise money to help with the work of Breast Cancer UK.”

“We are grateful to The Men’s Room for kindly offering their expertise and as importantly those who have volunteered to brave the shave”

The shave will take place this Saturday between 1pm and 2pm at The Men’s Room.

More than £1,000 has already been pledged.
