Richmond charity golf day raises more than £2,200

Richmond Rotary president Warnock Kerr presents the prize to the winning ladies team.

A charity golf day at Richmond Golf Club has raised £2,200.

The event on Friday was organised by Richmond Rotary Club.

The annual event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic but club leaders were delighted to be able to hold the event again following relevant Government guidelines.

A total of 22 teams too part including six from rotary clubs and the day was sponsored by local Richmond and national companies.

The first team prize, sponsored by Richmond Garage Services, was won by the Richmond Mafia team with 90 points, and the ladies team prize was won by Susan Stocks’ team.

The Sherwood Cup for the best rotary team went to Richmond Rotary.

The main organiser of the day was Richmond rotarian Colin Chitty.

He said: “It was really great that we were able to organise the Golf Day again this year and I am grateful to all my rotary colleagues.

“Without the continuing support of participants and sponsors the event would not be possible and it is good that such an enjoyable day ultimately benefits so many people.”

Richmond Rotary president Warnock Kerr said: “Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved we were able to raise more than £2,200.

“This will support some really good causes including Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Just the Job, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Colburn Lazer Cheer and Rotary’s own End Polio campaign.

“We hope that next year we shall be able to repeat what was a hugely successful day.”
