Richmond cricketers crowned North Yorkshire champions

A cricket team from Richmond Methodist Primary School has been crowned county champions.

The team represented Richmondshire after winning the district competition.

They then played at the North Yorkshire finals at Richmond School last week.

Deputy head Joe Larder said: “Our boys played seven outstanding games of cricket in the blistering heat, qualifying at the top of their group and winning both their semi-final and final games.

“They will now represent North Yorkshire at the Yorkshire finals on July 1.”

Joe added: “This group of cricketers have made fantastic progress through years of practice both as part of the school’s positive cricket culture and curriculum and the pathways and links to local clubs that have allowed these boys to develop and refine their skills.

“I am sure you can tell, we are very proud of their journey and excited about the Yorkshire finals next week.”
