Richmond duck race cancelled due to rising river

The annual duck race in Richmond has been cancelled, organisers have announced.

Members of the Duck Club have taken the decision due to rising waters in the River Swale.

The event was due to take place at 2pm today at Green Bridge.

The club said in a statement: “We have been monitoring the river this morning for the race and with heavy hearts unfortunately we are going to have cancel due to the river rising and its fast flow.”

A raffle will instead take place at the Buck Inn at 4pm today.
