Richmond to feature on national TV

Members of last year's Original Richmond In Bloom squad.

Richmond will feature on national TV next week when the town’s efforts to win at the annual Yorkshire in Bloom awards will be screened on BBC2.

The Britain in Bloom episode focusing on Richmond will be screened at 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 2.

The town was entered into the competition by Original Richmond, the Richmond Business and Tourism Association.

Chair Marcia McLukie said: “The programme was shot entirely in Richmond during last year’s preparations and judging for Yorkshire In Bloom.

“This is your opportunity to see the Richmond In Bloom team toiling away in the long, hot summer.

“The Station has kindly offered to put a big screen in the Café Bar and some of us have already decided to watch the Richmond programme together there.

“It would be lovely if any or all of you could join us.

“You’ll be able to buy drinks and food for before, during or after the show as you so wish.”

Richmond won a silver gilt award with its entry into Yorkshire in Bloom – missing out on gold by just three points.

The town also won an discretionary award for the best new entry.

There were other successes, with individual businesses and organisations in the town also winning awards.
