Richmond Freemasons lodge to hold open day

Lennox Lodge in Richmond.

One of the oldest Freemasons lodges in the country, Lennox Lodge in Richmond, is to open its doors to the public on Saturday, June 15.

The lodge is located on Newbiggin, next to the Comrades club, and will be open to the public between 10am and 3pm.

The Worshipful Master, Des McKenzie, invites visitors to see the inside of the lodge, which he says still maintains its original historical charm and character from when it was established in 1763.

He will explain what Freemasonry about and highlight the charity work it does worldwide.

He added: “As Freemasons, we are keen to build and develop close links with our community, including seeking views on creating a Masonic museum to help expand the local tourist offer.”

He looks forward to meeting people at the event and unravelling some of the mystery behind Freemasonry.

He added: “These events have resulted in many people having a more informed view of what Freemasonry is all about and has even resulted in new members joining us.”

  1. Good luck with your museum, we have just opened a new one here in Blackpool. It is great fun and very interesting finding out about our illustrious past. I am a P.M. here in Clifton Lodge 703 which is the oldest lodge in the Fylde. I have been a mason for 48 years and both my sons are brothers. The youngest one has just been promoted to Provincial Steward. My oldest son is a new member having joined last year after serving 24 years in the army. He now lives in Coleburn near you and is looking to move to a new lodge nearer home. Hope I can manage to visit your lodge sometime. Fraternal greetings Bro James Harper,P.M.

  5. W/Bro McKenzie, Fraternal greetings from Lodge Level No. 43 on the roll of the Grand Lodge of India of which I am a PM. I happen to be in the UK and would definitely like to take the opportunity to visit your historic lodge during the Open Day if all goes well. Fraternally, Yeshwant Umralkar
