Richmond Golf Club member and England veteran international Karen Jobling has became the first Yorkshire winner of the Northern Championship in 18 years.
The Northern Championship is an annual event where Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire players come together .
The 2023 Northern Championship was played at Arcot Hall Golf Club in Northumberland last week
The players played an initial stroke play round with the top 16 going into match play format over the remaining two days.
Karen won the final against Cath Rawthore of Cheshire.
Both players had only just returned from the England Senior Amateur Competition at Stoneham Golf Club where Karen was knocked out in the quarter finals and Cath lost in the final.
The victory means Karen is guaranteed to be in the North’s team for the annual Jamboree event in August when it is played at Fixby.
Karen has represented the North in the event previously in which they take on teams from the South, Midlands and Scotland.
