Richmond Golf Club has enjoyed a busy fortnight of competitive golf, with players taking to the course in hot summer conditions for a series of mixed and open events.
The action began on Friday, July 3, with the Ron Earle Salver, a mixed four-ball better ball Stableford competition. Barbara Gregory and Ivan Rookes claimed victory with an impressive 45 points, finishing three clear of Elizabeth and Peter Downes on 42 points. David Kilsby and Anne Rose secured third place with 41 points.
Martin Catt also celebrated success by winning the nearest-the-pin-in-two prize on the 16th hole.
The following day saw the club host its Gents Open, attracting pairs for a four-ball better ball Stableford competition.
Gary Catt and Ryan Howe topped the leaderboard with 43 points, while Bradly Murphy and M Bradshaw finished runners-up on 41 points. Ian Crisop and Steve Brown completed the podium after recording 40 points.
Derek Furness won the nearest-the-pin prize on the ninth hole, with Richard Routledge taking the honours on the 18th.
The latest competition took place on Friday, July 10, when golfers contested the Val Fenn Trophy, another mixed four-ball better ball Stableford event.
Lynn and Albert Nowicki produced the best score of the day, finishing on 45 points to lift the trophy.
Eileen Catt and Steve Whiteley were second with 40 points, while Susan Kipling and Stewart Thompson finished third after scoring 39 points.
Steve Willis claimed the nearest-the-pin prize on the fourth hole, while Anne Rose rounded off another successful fortnight by winning the nearest-the-pin-in-two competition on the 11th.
