Richmond Golf Club welcomed veterans and supporters for a special annual golf day in honour of the Green Howards.
The event, held on Saturday, marked 20 years since the Green Howards amalgamated with two other Yorkshire regiments to form the Yorkshire Regiment, which later became the Royal Yorkshire Regiment in 2023.
Players battled wet, windy and cold conditions as former members of the regiment joined club members on the course in Richmond.
The day was hosted by Richmond Golf Club’s men’s captain, veteran Ivan Rookes, who served with the Green Howards himself.
Mr Rookes said: “It gave me enormous pleasure and pride to welcome my former Regiment to Richmond Golf Club, particularly in this year as Gents’ Captain.
“I’m delighted to announce that we raised £1,845 for charities at the golf event.”

Despite difficult weather conditions, organisers said the tournament was played in “true Green Howards style”, with strong scores recorded throughout the day.
Among the winners were Bob Purvis in the 0–16 handicap category and Karl Wright in the 17–28 handicap category.
The team prize was won by Gary Emmerson, John Simpson, Ged Morrisey and Bob Amor.
