A Richmond golfer has been crowned the 2026 Yorkshire Seniors’ Amateur Champion after finishing top of a field of more than 130 competitors.
Gary Catt, of Richmond Golf Club, claimed the prestigious title at the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs’ Senior Amateur Championship, which was held over two days at Wetherby Golf Club on June 29 and 30.
Catt produced two consistent rounds to finish with a total score of 145, securing victory in the county-wide competition.
Following his win, he said: “I was very pleased to win the overall competition and would just like to thank the Yorkshire Union and Wetherby Golf Club for organising the day.”
Richmond Golf Club chair Lee Coward congratulated Catt on his success, saying: “Here at Richmond we’re all extremely proud of Gary in winning this competition. He is an excellent golfer and great ambassador for our club and amateur golf.”
The victory adds another notable achievement to Catt’s golfing career and marks a proud moment for Richmond Golf Club.
