A meeting exploring a potential bid for Richmond to become a designated Town of Culture will take place next week, as local organisations join forces to support the initiative.

The meeting, organised by Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA) and Richmond Yorkshire CIC, will be held at Richmond Town Hall at 6.15pm on Wednesday, January 14.

It is open to anyone with an interest in the project or who would like to find out more.

As part of the event, ORBTA has confirmed that it will not be holding its planned January meeting, instead choosing to support and take part in the Town of Culture discussion as its first meeting of 2026.

Organisers say Richmond is well placed to submit a strong bid, with the meeting designed to gather interest, ideas and support from across the community.

The evening will also include:

  • An update on the Town Investment Plan

  • Details of the latest bid to the High Street Fund, to be presented by Paul (surname not provided)

Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP in advance by emailing admin@richmondyorkshire.co.uk, to help organisers plan for numbers.
