A Richmond man has been sentenced after he admitted making more than 2,000 indecent images of children.
David Houghton, 61, of Frenchgate, Richmond, admitted three charges when he appeared at York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Of the images, 188 were rated in the most serious category by police.
The making of indecent images can mean downloading the images or storing them on a computer.
The offences occurred on or before November 29, 2017.
Houghton was given a two-year community order and was told to attend a 40-day rehabilitation programme.
He was also ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work, and was told to pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
The defendant was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
