Richmond has missed out at Great British High Street Awards, which were announced today.

The town was shortlisted in the champion high street category by the Original Richmond, Richmond Business and Tourism Association.

There were 240 applicants and Richmond was one of only 26 to make the final.

Marcia McLuckie, chair of the RBTA, said: “Richmond didn’t win but we have been told the standard was very high and Richmond got a very good score.

“We have been promised feedback so we can see how to do even better next time.”

The overall winner was Crickhowell in Wales.

Altricham was the champion in England, while Todmorden was giving the rising star award.
