Richmond offices and former school set to be turned into apartments

A former Richmond scho0ol is set to be turned from offices into apartments.

A planning application has been submitted by Zetland Estates to redevelop the Old School Rooms in Dundas Street.

Under the scheme, the buildings, which have most recently been used as offices, would be turned into four self-contained apartments.

Documents submitted with the plans state: “The proposed scheme delivers a low impact, sensitive conversion to a local building, unable to be let out
commercially.

“A level of great respect has been shown towards the building by removing the modern additions, such as the porch and UPVC windows, and replacing them with much more suitable and in-keeping period timber doors and windows.

“Traditional proportions and scale of the two buildings has been retained, the buildings fabric will be enhanced with heritage materials and craftsmanship.

“Off-street parking will be provided in the courtyard, this use will not change from the current one.”

Richmond Town Council has not raised any objections but has suggested at least for electric car charging points should be added to the scheme.
